I'm currently listening to the audiobook of Julia Child's My Life in France. It's a wonderful book-rich in detail and history. The details of each meal are painstaking and vivid. The title is a bit of a misnomer because it actually chronicales Julia Child's life from the time she lived in France onward. It covers her years at the Cordon Bleu, the cooking school she founded and the writing of her famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
In one sense, the book is a very interesting account of the writing process and especially the collaborative process in the days before the home computer, word processing, and the internet. She spent hours typing her recipes by hand and kept a voluminous correspondence.
The book also serves as a post WWII travelogue as she and her husband lived overseas for much of their adult lives.
Overall, it's a great read and an especially well-done audiobook.
I give it 5 of 5 hearts:-)
